Corners are the most valuable squares because a piece there can never be flipped. Edges are also strong, since they offer fewer lines of attack for your opponent. A common mistake is making moves that hand your opponent easy access to a corner. Instead, think about limiting their options and forcing them into weak positions. Because the game ends when neither player can make a valid move, the final count often depends on who controlled the key squares during the middle game. Patience and careful reading of the board matter more than aggressive early flipping.
