Dueling the Impostor Through Rhythm

CoryxKenshin Airship Rhythm Duel is a fan-made rhythm game inspired by the Friday Night Funkin' series. The premise places players in a musical confrontation with the CoryxKenshin Impostor aboard a mysterious airship. Rather than relying on combat or exploration, the game builds its challenge around precise timing and musical synchronization, making it a tribute to the modding community that surrounds FNF.

Reading the Arrow Prompts

During gameplay, arrow symbols appear above the character's head. Players press the corresponding arrow keys on their keyboard in time with the music. Accurate hits maintain a streak, while missing several notes in a row ends the run and forces a restart. This creates a clear risk-reward loop: chasing a longer streak increases the penalty for a lapse in focus.

Story Mode and Free Play

The main menu offers two paths. Story mode provides a narrative-driven experience that frames the airship rivalry, while free play lets players practice individual songs without narrative context. Three original songs are included: Sudden Encounter, Cut Loose, and Hidden Agenda, each with its own chart. Practicing in free play before attempting story mode is a practical way to learn note patterns.

Presentation and Community Roots

As an open-source project, the game honors the original FNF team and mod creators. Custom sprites and backgrounds reinforce the airship rivalry theme, and visual effects sync with the music to support the atmosphere. The controls remain simple arrow key inputs, keeping the barrier to entry low while still offering depth for experienced rhythm players.
